This time of year, thousands travel from the US to Mexico to visit family, often by car.

It can be a dangerous trip, given widespread drug war violence and high levels of crime on the highways of northern Mexico.

Shannon Young reports on what travelers can do to minimize their risk exposure on Mexican roads.
