A new movie documents the period in Indonesia after the failed coup of 1965 when a half million suspected communists were rounded up and slaughtered.
That is the episode also depicted in the 1982 movie “The Year of Living Dangerously.”
The new documentary “The Act of Killing” is the story from the viewpoint of the killers.
They talk about and reenact the killings.
