Bowie's preoccupation with mortality is jarring. It's as if he wants to know if everyone else sees him the way he sees himself, and that he desperately wants us to. I sense a bit of a need to be honest, in some weird way. Like he wants to be "understood" before he dies. Does he portend his own untimely death?  Anyway, I look forward to the album.
