In the segment on the environment, it was mentioned that the Keystone XL Pipeline is on hold until there is a new environmental study and the new Secretary of State rules on it. This is not correct. The southern leg of the pipeline is under construction from the Texas coast to Cushing, Oklahoma. There have been landowners and protesters arrested for attempting to blockade the questionably legal seizure of land for the pipeline by TransCanada asserting eminent domain. They are also operating under half of the rejected EIS environmental review and yet neither the EPA nor the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality are monitoring per the concerns and requirements in that environmental impact statement. Finally, the Office of Pipeline Safety has had only one inspector traveling between three different sections under construction, leaving TransCanada which has a poor construction record to do much work without adequate monitoring. It is incredible to me when I hear national and international news which says this pipeline is on hold when in fact the southern leg is under construction. How can so many in the fourth estate be missing this stroy ?
