Revisiting a family in Pakistan

The floods in Pakistan, caused several weeks ago by heavy rains, have killed more than 1,600 people and affected about 20 million people. Ten days ago, BBC correspondent Jill McGivering told us about a baby girl called Samina. She’d been born a few days earlier on the roadside after her parents fled the floods. Now Jill went back to Sindh Province to see how the family is faring now. Download MP3

It’s football season again and Iowa’s Drake University took the occasion to announce plans for its football team to play a game in Tanzania. The Bulldogs intend to take on an all-star team from Mexico in the inaugural Global Kilimanjaro Bowl in May 2011. It is considered to be the first American football game on the African continent. Roma crackdown in France

In France, the crackdown against gypsy or Roma people continues. Police have been raiding Roma camps and deporting hundreds of people. Human rights groups and some European officials question the legality of the crackdown. But the government of President Nicolas Sarkozy isn’t backing down.
