For this Geo Quiz, follow the ocean blue. The warm ocean we know as the Gulf Stream originates near the southern tip of Florida. It heads north up along the US coastline and up past Newfoundland. There, it’s called the North Atlantic Drift, because it sweeps across the Atlantic.
About a year ago, some high schoolers in Melbourne Florida focused on the the Gulf Stream for their marine science project. They wrote messages in bottles and tossed them into the Atlantic. A year later, some of the bottles washed up far from Florida.
