Israel makes its case

Israel on Friday got a chance to refute charges leveled by South Africa at the International Court of Justice that the Jewish state is committing genocide with its war in Gaza. Israeli lawyers condemned the charges, saying that the case ignores Hamas’ atrocities on Oct. 7, as well as Hamas’ charter that calls for the destruction of Israel. The 15-member court, plus two ad-hoc judges from Israel and South Africa, gave no indication when they might make a ruling.
