Italy’s economic future looks uncertain as the country counts the votes from its general election.
Italy faces ongoing economic and fiscal crises that could threaten the stability of the eurozone, and perhaps impact the global economy.
But any hope that the election would show a clear way forward seems dashed.
No political bloc looks set to command a majority in the new Italian parliament.
That means instability, and possibly even a new set of elections in a few months’ time.
It’s a complete and utter mess.
One surprise is the success of a “throw-the-bums-out” movement, led by a former comedian, Beppe Grillo.
It looks set to win 25 percent in both houses of parliament.
But what is their agenda? Who knows?
