Another Oil Pipeline Runs into Political Debate in Canada

There is a political battle in Canada over a proposed pipeline that would go west from Alberta through a remote wilderness area to an isolated stretch of coast in British Columbia.

Selling Olympic flowers

When the Olympic winners take the podium over the next two weeks, they won’t just get a medal. They’ll also get a flower bouquet. Today’s Geo Quiz focused on a city in the part of British Columbia that’s been hard hit by forest fires this week. The answer is Kelowna on the west shore of Okanagan Lake, BC. It’s where thousands of area residents have been forced to evacuate, and hundreds of firefighters are battling the Terrace Mountain wild fire.
