British commandos have freed New York Times reporter Stephen Farrell (pictured) in a raid on a Taliban hide-out in northern Afghanistan. The journalist’s Afghan translator Sultan Munadi and one of the British soldiers were killed during the operation, officials said. The NY Times reported that Farrell was “extracted” by “a lot of soldiers.” Marco Werman talked with Pamela Constable, the Kabul correspondent for the Washington Post.
