Anders Kelto

Africa Correspondent

Andrea CrossanAnders Kelto is The World’s Africa Correspondent. His primary focus is on health and development, and he also covers breaking news, politics, and culture. Prior to joining The World in 2012, he spent two years in South Africa as a freelancer with The World, NPR, and CBC. He covered everything from circumcision programs in rural South Africa, to media reforms in Zimbabwe, to discrimination against HIV-positive pregnant women in Kenya.

Before reporting in Africa, Anders worked as a writer and editor at National Geographic. And before that, he spent several years as an admission officer and soccer coach at his beloved alma mater, Brown University.

When not tiptoeing around Africa, Anders enjoys spending time in his hometown of Traverse City, Michigan, where he tells tales about lions and elephants to enthralled six-year-olds at Mr. Soccer Camps, a business he began in college and has somehow managed to keep afloat ever since.
