Middle East Correspondent

Matthew Bell packed up his family and moved to Jerusalem in the summer of 2010 to report on the Middle East region. He’s been with the program since 2001. As a Boston-based daily beat reporter, Matthew covered a wide range of topics, including US presidential politics, East Asia, national security, immigration and culture. He has filed stories from cities across the US and abroad; among his favorite places to visit and report from were Belfast, Jerusalem, London, New Orleans, Seoul and Shanghai.

Matthew grew up in New Hampshire and Vermont, and began his radio career at KQED in San Francisco. He has an irrepressible love of food, jazz, blues and funk. When he’s not busy being a dad, Matthew also spends time on the basketball court, working to perfect his jump shot.
