Scientists at the University of California San Diego are using bacterial spores to break down newly developed bioplastic. When the bacterial spores in these bioplastics are exposed to nutrients present in compost they break down the material at the end of its life cycle. Host Carolyn Beeler speaks with Adam Feist, a lead researcher at UC San Diego, about the efforts to develop bioplastics and other ways at reducing plastic waste.
